Each year, high schoolers versed in consumer rights, personal finance, health and safety, technology and the environment study hard as April draws near. This year, 33 teams from states across the nation, came out to San Diego, California for the annual LifeSmarts National Championship. A quiz bowl competition run by the National Consumers League, a private, nonprofit advocacy group representing consumers on marketplace and workplace issues, LifeSmarts is four days of challenging questions, learning, friendly contest and fun. There were tons of questions, hours spent studying, a trip to the San Diego Zoo and even a dance. After the dust settled, and as a first time in the 24 years of the championship, the team from Pennsylvania won a first ever three-peat.
