For the past decade or so the National Park Service, and more specifically, the Intermountain Regional Office based in Denver, Colorado has been celebrating the great outdoors each June with an amazing event designed to get kids and families into nature. Get Outdoors Day this year was held at Sloan’s Lake Park in downtown and encouraged people to do just that…get outside and play. There was a fishing clinic, a bike clinic, a caving simulator, rock walls, a chance to either stand up paddleboard, canoe or kayak, interactive displays, and so much more it will make your head spin. It was a day full of outdoor activities that if you missed this year, should definitely be marked on the calendar for the next one!
