If you’re not careful you could miss it. It’s tucked away in a dark corner and down a hallway but at the end, the light from the large windows will guide you home. I’m talking about Annette, Caroline Glover’s first solo venture which can be found down said hallway inside Stanley Marketplace in Aurora.
Annette has been open for 10 months already and is garnering attention from local fans, New York food critics and now awarded the Editor’s and Reader’s Choice for Restaurant of the Year for Denver Eater. Glover has been doing an amazing job creating her own style of creative comfort food and keeping her employees happy. Something that stands out, besides the food, is that Glover pays all of her employees the same wage and then pools tips. This group effort is rewarded with an, at least, $18 an hour pay schedule even on a slow night. That’s a lot considering what is expected from a minimum wage job.
The menu at Annette seems to constantly change allowing for seasonal expression. There can be anything on the menu from beef tongue and bone marrow toast to octopus patatas bravas for dinner. Or for brunch, a breakfast sammy, a constantly rotating Quiche selection, Belgian waffles and more!
