25th Anniversary for the National Consumers League’s LifeSmarts National Championships

Each year, high schoolers versed in consumer rights, personal finance, health and safety, technology and the environment study hard as April draws near. This year, 39 teams from states across the nation, came out to Orlando, Florida for the annual LifeSmarts National Championship. A quiz bowl competition run by the National Consumers League, a private, nonprofit advocacy group representing consumers on marketplace and workplace issues, LifeSmarts is four days of challenging questions, learning, friendly contest and fun. There were tons of questions, hours spent studying, a trip to the Magic Kingdom, a visit from Mickey Mouse, a birthday cake celebration and even a dance. After the dust settled, the reigning champions, Pennsylvania, were unseated by the team from Rhode Island.
