2018 National Get Outdoors Day in Denver

Each year the National Park Service hosts a nation wide event known as Get Outdoors Day. That may be fairly easy in a place like Colorado. With all of the mountains and rivers drawing the majority of the population outside on a regular, I dare say, everyday basis, it is hard to compete on a Saturday to have a crowd. But a crowd was definitely at Sloan’s Lake to celebrate the great outdoors.

There were cave simulators, climbing walls, canoes, kayaks, fishing clinics, games, free stuff and of course appearances by everyone’s favorite bear, Smokey.  Woodsy the Owl was there too along with the newest mascot Buddy the Bison.

The afternoon long event was definitely family oriented and fun for the outdoor adventure seeker both young and old.
