Each year the National Consumers League holds a competition that pits high school students against one another to find out who has the best consumer knowledge. This year, teams from 31 states competed in the National LifeSmarts Championship (think a quiz bowl of sorts) at the Westin Convention Center hotel in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. For four days the teams participated in different tests, against the clock and each other, in categories such as personal finance, health & safety, technology, consumer rights & responsibilities and the environment. The students and their coaches also got to explore the great city of Pittsburgh, hear from Mayor Bill Peduto, catch a Pirates game and more.
I love traveling for work!
